PCR Test For Travel

Before traveling abroad, it is vital that you have a PCR test to confirm your hepatitis C status. Although some health care providers offer the service, it is still advisable to go to a lab for a confirmed result. While the turnaround time for a PCR test is typically a few days, some travel health providers may take as long as a few weeks to provide a result. If you plan on traveling on business or vacation, a PCR test may be required.
The list of PCR test facilities in the U.S. is constantly growing and will grow as more locations open. You may also want to consider visiting your local pharmacy. Many metropolitan areas partner with third-party companies to offer fast PCR test options. If you don’t have time to visit a lab, you may be able to get your results via mail. Having a PCR test before you leave home can save you time and money in case you are quarantined overseas for a short time.
Most countries open to tourism require a PCR test before you travel, but you should check with the specific country before traveling. A PCR test can detect active Covid infection, while an antigen test checks specific viral proteins. The CDC accepts proof of a negative antigen test within three days of departure. Other countries require different tests, so check with your travel health agency for more information. Once you know the requirements for your trip, you can go ahead and order the PCR test.
To get a PCR test for travel, you must have an NHS number. This number is required to book an appointment, so be sure to get it as soon as possible. You can also call 111 for further information or advice. Most urgent care locations have a COVID-19 test available. If you have any questions, call them at their office or book an appointment online. You’ll pay PS50 per person.
For travel purposes, some companies offer mail-in PCR tests. A swab of nasal or sputum samples can be sent to a lab. Typically, results will be available within twenty-four hours, but you can request overnight shipping if you’d like. The testing kits are FDA-approved and are accepted by most U.S., European, African, and Middle Eastern health authorities.
The cost for a PCR test is $125 or more, depending on the turnaround time. The turnaround time will depend on the test you choose, and most locations accept most insurance. The result will be available the same day or the next day, but you’ll have to pay out of pocket for any extra services that are required. Depending on your health insurance, you may not be able to pay the full cost of a PCR.
